The "bad" azimuth bearing will be
sent back East to be re-milled. Meanwhile, it was replaced with one
that is kept on hand. Three days later, the new bearing was in place,
the process was reversed, and the antenna was put back together in
less than three hours. |

The crew will discuss the move
and make appropriate changes to the script so that the process will be
even more efficient the next time an azimuth bearing is changed. This
is the crew who made the change in September 2002.
Electrical engineer Bob Broilo has made a movie of the antenna separation in
August of 2001. The file is 22 megabytes, so it may take awhile to load. Once it is loaded, click the right mouse button to play. Thanks to Jon Thunborg for the still photographs of the separation.
