VLA+PT Link Proposals

In general, proposing to use the VLA+Pt link is not significantly different than proposing to use the VLA. The proposers must realize that the VLA+PT link is a scarce and unique resource, since the PT antenna is also used as part of the VLBA. Thus a strong scientific case must be made for using the VLA+PT link, which should include specific science arguments for using the link.

The VLA proposal cover sheet has been modified in order to accomodate selection of the VLA+PT link. On the first page of the cover sheet, Pie Town link has been added as a "Type of Observation" in item 11. This (circular) box should be checked if the proposed observations are for use of the VLA+PT link. On the second page of the cover sheet, the use of item 21, "Special hardware, software, or operating requirements," is also recommended.

Mark Claussen and Jim Ulvestad should be considered as contacts at NRAO for further questions about the use of the VLA+PT link:
