The VLA+PT link is a project to link the Very Long Baseline Array Pie Town antenna and the VLA in real time via an optical fiber. This will 1)increase the resolution of the VLA by a factor of two (for northerly sources) while keeping the full sensitivity of the VLA, and 2) be a demonstration and learning project for the Expanded VLA and ALMA. The project began in 1997, after fiber-optic cable was installed in the area by Western New Mexico Telephone Company.  The VLA+Pt link is available to be used with the VLA in the A configuration, beginning in early February 2006.
