High Frequency Observing

This web document is intended for VLA observers using 22 GHz (K-band) and 43 GHz (Q-band). For standard VLA issues please consult the VLA Observational Status Summary. However, a few additional things should be considered when observing at high frequencies, and this information is collected on the links below.

K and Q band status Current sensitivity and tuning range of the VLA 22 GHz and 43 GHz receivers.
Scheduling and proposal information Observing strategy, phase stability, fast-switching, referenced pointing, typical schedule files, calibrators, spectral line issues. Please read this info also before submitting your proposal since it will help you to determine how much observing time you need etc.
The observers checklist A quick guide on preparing observations, and a pre-observing checklist.
Reducing your data Data reduction path, notes on FILLM, UV weighting, applying opacity and gain curve corrections, using clean component models.
Technical information Includes information mainly intended for NRAO staff working on high frequency issues. Could perhaps be interesting for the experienced user who wants to troubleshoot after the observations.
