VLA Test/Observation Coordination Meeting B.G. Clark November 15, 2001 1. Pointing C. Carilli has developed a few practical pointers for reference pointing. At 8 GHz reliable pointing could be done on a source of 0.5 Jy. It becomes a little marginal at 0.22 Jy, and a source of 0.13 Jy did not work well at all. Under good conditions, the RMS accuracy of a pointing determination for a source of flux S Janskys is about 0.6" / S + 0.5". K. Sowinski notes that that behavior covers most antennas, but perhaps five behave rather badly, mostly for reasons unknown. 2. WVR W. Brisken reports that the WVRs are finally exhibiting the required stability in the lab. They will soon be installed on two antennas to evaluate how well they work in the field.
