Some useful references for synthesis imaging are given below :

  • An Introduction to Radio Astronomy
    B. F. Burke, and F. Graham-Smith
    Cambridge University Press, New York.
The first six chapters of this book deal with some of the basic concepts in Radio Astronomy.

  • Interferometry and Synthesis in Radio Astronomy
    A. R. Thompson, J. M. Moran, G. W. Swenson, Jr.
John Wiley and Sons, New York.
This is an advanced book dealing with most aspects of aperture synthesis in Radio Astronomy.

  • Synthesis Imaging in Radio Astronomy
ASP Conference Series, vol 6, 1989
    Eds. Perley, Schwab, and Bridle.
These are a collection of lectures from the Third NRAO Synthesis Imaging Summer School held in 1988.
There are 25 lectures given by practicing astronomers. Apart from principles, these lectures also discuss
the practice of Aperture Synthesis in Radio Astronomy with illustrative examples.

  • Synthesis Imaging in Radio Astronomy II
ASP Conference Series, vol 180, 1999
    Eds. Taylor, Carilli, and Perley.
This volume is similar to the one above.

  • Some of the L-band specific issues can be found in the following Test Memoranda.
