General Q and K Band Issues:

  • 12feb03 -- 23 new K-band and 26 Q-band receivers are now available.
  • 31oct02 -- 22 new K-band and 26 Q-band receivers are now available.
  • 28aug02 -- Current results on the leakage repairs.
  • 06aug02 -- The leakage repairs on the new receivers appears to have worked so far, even though we are not through the wet season yet.
  • 25july02 -- Since the leakage repairs started, there have been a few problems with Tcals, resulting in too high values of Tsys for a few antennas. Therefore, be aware that the system temperature shown in the plots below for K-bands are not true ones. This problem has now been fixed.
  • 28may02 -- 20 new K-band and 25 Q-band receivers are now available.
  • 20jan02 -- 18 new K-band and 25 Q-band receivers are now available.
  • 20jan02 -- The new K-band feed horns still suffer from water during wet weather. Leakage tests have been performed, and the plan is to install o-rings in all sections plus add sealant in all new K-band receivers during the spring.

Receiver performance (measured To):

To is the system temperature due to all sources except the atmosphere (atm has been subtracted using tipping scan data). It includes receiver temp, sidelobes, etc. Subtract about 10 K obtain an estimate of the actual receiver temperature.

These charts are available as postscript or gif images. Note: some of the postscript files are quite large (40m+) and will take even a good connection a while to download.

NB: Tsys shown in the 2002 and onward plots are not to be taken as absolute Tsys values due to some Tcal problems during the spring. Fixed as of July 25 2002.
