Those observations searched for 43 GHz SiO masers in AGB stars
in the Galactic centre. Fast switching is applied. All sources are
close to 1733-130 (used for bandpass calibration and pointing
scans) and 1745-290 (the phase calibrator thus used for all
sources).
Observing strategy:
- Go to the flux calibrator 3C286 and do an X-band pointing scan
- Observe 3C286 at Q-band in the desired spectral line mode
- Go to the bandpass calibrator 1733-130 and do a pointing scan
- Observe the bandpass calibrator 1733-130 at 4 different
frequencies, corresponding to 4 different groups of velocities (or
equivalently, 4 different LO frequencies). When applying those
corrections in the data reduction, use the one closest in
frequency.
- Observe the set of 39 sources according to:
- Observe the phase calibrator 1745-290 at frequency corresponding to the target source no i.
- Do a fast switching scan of around 5 minutes switching
between the target source and the phase calibrator
1745-290. Cycle time 100 sec (70 sec on target/30 sec on
calibrator). Note that the target source is defined first in
the fast switching card, to make sure Doppler corrections are
made for the target.
- Repeat those steps for the next target source. However, if the
frequency of the next target is close to the preceding, step no 1
is skipped.
This is the resulting observe file. Parts of the file are
marked in color, with explanations below. These are things you need
to look for in your observe file, to make sure the schedule is
correct.
