The VLA Green Book

The VLA Green Book provides an introduction to the VLA for astronomers who wish to use it. It is intended to provide an overall view of the instrument and some information about the instrument at a level appropriate to those who may not know a great deal about interferometry and aperature synthesis techniques. The Green Book was first written in 1978, and has been updated sporadically. The current version was last updated in 1992 and while a useful source of information, is out dated in many respects - particularly in its description of the high frequency performance of the VLA and available software tools. The reader is referred to the VLA web pages and specifically the more compact VLA Observational Status Summary for current information about state of the array.
