Tip Curve Data Tool

The TIP tool takes the raw output from the VLA on-line system and does a full fit to determine opacity and To (all contributions to Tsys which are constant with elevation), and optionally, the values of Tcal (the "noise tubes" or calibration loads for the VLA). The opacity is assumed to be constant over all antennas of the array. The values of To and Tcal can vary from antenna to antenna and on the 4 IFs for each antenna. The mathematics are described in Scientific Memo 170 (ps), and some related information is contained in Test Memo 232 (pdf).
